Things to do in September in Dublin and surrounding areas

I have put together a list of things to do with your family in September in Dublin and surrounding areas. I find sometimes when you are looking for things to do you totally forget what is on so this is a handy guide that you can keep coming back to. Some events are a little drive outside Dublin but I have linked all events so you can see where they are and what suits you best. Hope it gives you some ideas of things to do!

National Museum of Ireland

Saturday 1st September – Sunday 30th September

We bring history to life for over a million visitors every year. At our three Dublin sites and one in Mayo, the National Museum of Ireland (NMI) holds the national collections of Archaeology, Decorative Arts, History, Ethnography, Folklife and Natural History in trust for the people of Ireland. Our mission is to put people visitors, staff and partners at the centre of all that we do, and engage with them in new and creative ways. And with over four million objects in our collections, we have a continual source of inspiration for our programmes.

Please click on the link below to discover all the events taking place across the four Museum sites.

National Concert Hall  – Events for Children & Families

Our activities for children and families are based on principles of fostering the natural creativity of the child, and of promoting musics potential to enhance family cohesion. We view children as co-creators of the education process, and develop our initiatives to be child centred, and wherever possible, child led.

In developing initiatives for families, we encourage engagement with the NCH, and with music in general, as a shared experience, and so most of our activities in this area include both parents and children as active participants.

Creativity Centre

Omni Park Shopping Centre

Unit 229

Our new Creativity Centre opened its doors on Friday 6th October 2017. Our creativity centre is home to LEGO®themed holiday camps, birthday parties, school tours, after-school classes and workshops as well as a drop off facility. Its a bright new facility offering something different for our children.

We have troughs of Lego for children to build from the imagination. We also have a large test ramp for testing and racing cars the children build. Its always interesting to watch the children build different size cars and quickly make changes when they realise their car doesnt go fast or far enough. Will they modify it with different wheels, or a pull back motor?

Children will be supervised by our Garda Vetted staff leaving you free for shopping, get the hair done (handy having Kris Morton right next door) or just a peaceful break in one of the many cafes in the centre. Theres also a gym opening in the New Year so you can build that into your New Year resolutions!

We recommend from age 4+ for our drop and play facility.

Our creativity centre is located in the 9.
