At our three Dublin sites and one in Mayo, the National Museum of Ireland (NMI) holds the national collections of Archaeology, Decorative Arts, History, Ethnography, Folklife and Natural History in trust for the people of Ireland. Our mission is to put people – visitors, staff and partners – at the centre of all that we do, and engage with them in new and creative ways. And with over four million objects in our collections, we have a continual source of inspiration for our programmes.

Scrapefoot    The Ark

Tuesday 2nd July – Friday 30th August  10.30am – 12.30pm

The Ark

11a Eustace Street

Dublin 2

So you think that you know the story of Goldilocks? Think again!

This summer, enter the world of SCRAPEFOOT, a walk-through visual art experience for audiences of just four people at a time.

Goldilocks wasn’t always blonde! In fact, over time she has morphed from a fox called SCRAPEFOOT into an old hag, and finally into the Goldilocks we know today. What remains the same in each version of the story, is that they each entered a house in the woods (when nobody was home), to feast, sleep and shelter.

Now it’s your turn to explore this enchanting house but beware of the three figures who might come home earlier than planned! Have you always been a porridge fan? Is it really trespassing if the door was open?

You will take the lead in your own immersive adventure, piecing together what really happened or what nearly happened or indeed what could have happened on that fateful day…

We will also plant a bee-friendly flower to take home and hunt for bugs in the woodlands.

Irish National Stud – Summer Fun

Every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday during July and August

Irish National Stud &Gardens

Tully

Co Kildare

There are plenty of fun activities taking place at the Irish National Stud & Gardens, Co Kildare, during the Summer months. Every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday throughout the months of July and August enjoy a wonderful experience for the whole family.

From 12-4 we will be asking our resident ponies Dipper, Prince & Bertie to don their saddles and bridles to offer  pony rides to all our little visitors. Face painting obligatory whilst you wait!

We will also welcome back the interactive Maperath Farms and their farm animals. There will be giant games and other fun activities, sure to keep the little ones entertained.

All the regular attractions are available including an opportunity to meet the Living Legends team, take the fairy trail route through St Fiachras Garden or walk along the stepping stones in the Japanese Gardens for hours of outdoor fun. This is also a lovely time to meet some of our frolicking foals in their paddock.

This is a full day out so allow 4/5 hours to really make the most of it.  Our cafe will be serving seasonal recipes along with the usual cakes and treats and of course, we cannot forget the ice-cream.

All events are included in the admission prices. Event suited to a younger audience.
